Treat yourself to a moment just for you amid the hustle and bustle of everyday life, and come learn something new. Spend a Thursday evening in a healing circle of women. If you’ve never held a needle and thread before, this class will teach you how. If you already have experience with embroidery, here you’ll reinforce and develop your skills. I’ll show you the basics you can build on, and then you can develop your embroidery on your own according to your taste.

The stem stitch is one of the basic stitches in linear embroidery, which you can use to decorate your own clothing or home accessories. When embroidering larger motifs, this stitch has its own challenges, limitations, and advantages, which we’ll explore and practice during the class. You’ll learn practical tips on how to embroider even more complex motifs using the stem stitch.

My name is Júlia Šmidáková, and I’ll be your instructor today. I love handicrafts and have been practicing them for several decades. I embroider traditional folk patterns, but I’m also skilled in modern techniques. I’m the proud holder of several accredited certificates in traditional textile techniques and a graduate of a fashion school—so I’m by no means self-taught. I collaborate with ÚĽUV and also embroider for my own brand, HEAVENLY. During the course, I’ll be happy to share my practical tips and tricks with you.

The price includes materials and refreshments. We’ll be a small group—a maximum of 4 girls plus the instructor—so I can give each of you individual attention.
